This project came about when three Brainerd neighborhood leaders met while participating in the Neighborhood Leadership Institute. We believe the strongest neighborhoods in Chattanooga are strong both in number and vision. Because Brainerd is divided by a major road, as well as city council and county commission districts, achieving unity has been difficult.

OUR VISION for Brainerd is that
Brainerd will grow as a distinctive and historic midtown community with unique character, cultural diversity, attractive neighborhoods and interesting establishments linked via connected greenways and parks and that Brainerd will continue to be a great place to live.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Brainerd Unity Group is an association formed to:
Define Brainerd geographically, historically and conceptually;
Unify isolated Brainerd neighborhood associations;
Celebrate Brainerd’s racial, ethnic and religious diversity;
Promote Brainerd schools, churches and synagogues;
Support Brainerd businesses, encourage commerce and increase employment opportunities; and
Empower Brainerd's voice in city and county government decisions.
